Aperture:
The aperture in a camera is a basically a hole that controls the amount of light let into the camera. The aperture can be manipulated to make a photo darker or lighter but also to control the background detail, blurry or clear.

Shutter Speed:
The shutter speed is how fast the shutter closes capturing the photo. This is represented by fractions of seconds or just seconds. A long shutter speed would be good for low light situations, as the longer the shutter stays open the more light is let into the photo. A short shutter speed is good for capturing movement.

White Balance:
The white balance determines what the camera sees as true white given the certain lighting. There are different white balances, such as incandescent, sunny, shade, or fluorescent. However the white balance can be easily adjusted in post production, so it’s okay to experiment.

ISO:
The ISO measures the sensitivity to light. With a high ISO like 6400 the camera could take low light photos but the level of noise would be significantly greater than a photo with an ISO of 200. ISO on my camera starts at 100 and doubles until reaching 6400.
